America's Tears

I thought that since 9/11 is almost here I'd post this picture. It is one that I drew about 2 weeks ago. The building is obviously one of the twin towers, the girl is America, and the hearts with the halos are the souls of the people who died. I put a wave in the background because of the tsunamis we have had (katrina and the others around the world). There is other imagry but some of it is kind of hard to explain. I just though that I would post it because I finally know how to post pictures, and I guess to be patriotic...

I really like it Katie. You are such a good artist. Did you have all that symbolism thought out when we saw it at your party?

Thanks Katie. I just had to get it all out. And I agree with you. Bush does stink. He has just crossed the line. And you know what really stinks? I don't get to vote for our next president cuz I'll be 17.:( L8er

Good afternoon,

I like the aspects that reveal themselves after a few hours staring at this uplifting image: The tree growing out of America’s earhole - symbolising the jungle of shadows that has haunted her consciousness ever since M*A*S*H was on telly. The potato of Freedom, cocking a snook at the French, with their fat-laden chips.

This has just given me the idea that as further admonishment of Froggy surrender-monkeys, you could redo the image with a monkey wearing a turban and eating a packet of McDonalds chips with the words ‘Fat bin-Laden Fries’ written on it. The Mini Baby Bell is a subtle acknowledgement of Canada’s roll in our war against rotters, since that cheese is a traditional Canadian recipe.

I too have drawn and sculpted many works which purge my emotional reaction to the disasters that have befallen us; most recently a gouache surrealist piece which shows a horse committing suicide as Iran sets off a nuclear bomb, and in the corner, a dark, greenish-grey figure sits weeping in his hands as rain pours in through a hole in his roof, created by gale-force winds. That figure is me, and yes, I suffered that, to further add the leaden weight of sorrow to these anuses horribiblibuses that we’ve all endured. I feel your pain, I feel your depth, I feel your strength, I feel you breadth. Write on sister.

I too am a nationalist at heart, although, I live in Belgium and I think it’s crap.
